Previous data sources were often too coarse and not specific enough for the special conditions in the mountains. What does a weather station measure?

Weather stations are online 24/7 and deliver new measurements in real time every 10 minutes, providing us with up-to-date weather information around the clock. We receive the following measurements:

Air temperature, humidity, air pressure
Average and maximum wind speed, wind direction
Precipitation duration, precipitation amount
Sunshine duration
Snow depth: also available on request.

How is the data collected?

You collect weather data locally directly via your own wetter.com measuring station. This ensures you receive reliable weather information for a small area.

The collection process strictly adheres to recognised meteorological standards. You have the option of exporting historical data sets in common file formats or processing them directly in the analysis tools provided, as well as viewing them on wetter.com.

When is the database sufficient to make forecasts more reliable?

Up-to-date, high-quality measurements form the basis for reliable forecasts and warnings. After approximately one and a half years of measurement operation, the data from your weather station will be integrated into existing forecast models. This improves accuracy specifically for your location.

With each additional station in the area, the level of detail increases further – forecasts become gradually more precise and regionally differentiated.

How can the data be used in practice?

The measured values collected are available to you in various formats – for example, for your own evaluations, for archiving or for transfer to external systems.

In addition, you can integrate the data directly into our analysis and visualisation tools. This allows you to identify weather trends, check historical developments or use the information to improve forecasts at your own location.
